Fantasia was the first animated music video and was created in 1941.


1956 Tony Bennett was filmed walking along The Serpentine in Hyde Park as his song ‘Stranger in paradise’ which is claimed to be the first as live music video


In 1964 the Beatles released a film called “A Hard Day” was the first film based on the song "A Hard Days Night".

Top of the Pops was created to promote songs. It was the first show dedicated to music. It was created in 1964. They weren’t trying to be risky with their visual content since this was a newer idea.



In the 70’s Australia and a lot of other countries copied the idea

In 1975 Queen recorded a Promo for the Song. It was a live video mixed with Visual Effects



In the 1980’s The first music video on MTV was Video Killed the radio star by the Buggles



MTV wasn’t as strict with the content of the music as Top of the Pops were.


In 1983, Micheal Jackson released a short film music video with John Landis called Thriller



In the 90’s artists and directors realized that music videos are huge and they cost lesser to make.


Scream was created in 1995 and was the most expensive music video. They used $7,000,000 to create the music video.



In February 2005, YouTube was released and artists started putting up their music videos on there and many new artists are being found, to this day, on Youtube.


In 2015, The Weekend released a music video that could be viewed in Virtual Reality called 'The Hill'.



As technology has advanced, people have learned to adapt with the changes and become more creative to help create engaging music videos for their viewers.
