These are 3 test shots that I did for the 15-23 year olds music video. I tried different ways of showing time passing. The first test shot was of me being time lapsed and window behind me is going at normal speed. I did that by duplicating the video, sped up one of the layers, masked the area around me so that it looked like I was doing my work really quickly.
I did the same thing again but this time instead of time lapsing myself, I time-lapsed the window behind me. Since the video was only around 20 minutes long, the day light didn't really change much so I color graded the scene to make it darker over time.

Finally for the jump cut montage style, I used the same video and I just cut it up over time. Although the scene still didn't look dark enough, I made it darker while grading the scene.
I color graded all of the scenes in the using the same grade layer and I added a brightness key frame onto the 2 where the whole room was supposed to get dark to animate the brightness of the room and the view in the balcony.
Depending on when I shoot the video, if I don't have enough time to do the time lapse effects, I will just do the jump cuts to show time passing as both show the same effect that I am going for.
