For these test shots, I wanted to test whether I would be able to use these walls around school as a green/blue screen as I will be able to make my brother dance in front of them and then add the different places as the background. I did this because it would be easy for me to change the background later on if I didn't like it or if the positioning seemed off. When I create my video I will make my brother do the dance 3 times in his 3 different costumes. When creating these test shots I wanted to remove the floor but I could not figure out a way to remove it. I tried masking but it wouldn't work since the legs would over lap each other making it significantly more difficult and time consuming. So instead I will decide to either keep the floor or to crop it out. I would also need to remember not to make my brother go in front of the other objects on the wall as it will be difficult for me to remove it later on. After editing these 3 different clips, I figured out that the 3rd clip had the best key as the background didn't have any shadows or color differences that the other 2 had. Although I won't be able to use that was as it is sloping downwards and wouldn't really for a dance routine.
Here are 2 test shots that I did for the screen of the computer. The first test shot is of my hand waving in front of the screen, which would be the normal way to do it. The second test shot is of me waving my hand in front of a green slide which would act as a green screen. I wanted to test not only whether it worked or not but also how long it would take for me to change the green screen, motion track and stabilize the shot. The typical way of just having the screen on didn't take me that long to do as I would just need to stabilize the shot. The green screen shot on the other hand, took me almost 17 minutes to try and properly key the green out, motion track the 4 of the corners of the screen to make sure the image stayed in its place and then 2 more tracks to stabilize the footage. All for a worse result. What I learned from conducting this test is that if I need to use a device as a green screen, I will need to record my footage at a higher frame rate. The test shot was recorded at 30 FPS and the motion blur of my hand wouldn't get keyed out as it is the same color as my skin. Shooting the same shot at 60 FPS would have given me less motion blur but then the video would take more time to export since the overall file would be bigger.
